Volume level not persistent when launching application

Whenever I launch the application I tend to reduce the volume to 50% (I use the Boom and at 100% I'll go deaf in a week with headphones), my issue being that the change is not remembered, every time I launch the application it is necessary to change the volume level again.

Is this expected? I am not sure if the volume level should be remembered or not I am just assuming it should being an user preference.
